
chieving great critical acclaim and success both nationally and internationally as musical and artistic director of the Ciudad de la Mancha Orchestra, Fernando Bustamante has established himself as a dynamic young Spanish conductor.
His passion for orchestral conducting led him to study under maestros Miguel Romea and Andrés Salado in Spain and at the International Conducting Academy at the Universität der Künste in Berlin under Steven Sloane and Harry Curtis. During his studies Fernando demonstrated a constant and solid evolution, graduating with honors in his final concert.
Fernando has been invited to take part in prestigious masterclasses with Daniele Gatti and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Robin Ticciati and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester; as well as with Maestros John Carewe, Kimbo Ishii, Arthur Fagen, Leo Brouwer and Michail Jurowski.
He has conducted the Extremadura Youth Orchestra, the Extremadura Symphony Orchestra, Verum Symphony Orchestra, Opus 23 Orchestra, Ecuadorian National Orchestra, Brandenburgisches Staatorchester Frankfurt, Deutsches Sinfonie-Orchester Berlin, Neubrandenburger Philarmonie, Brandenburger Symphoniker, Staatstheater Cottbus Orchester, Preußischen Kammerorchester, Kammerakademie Potsdam and Magdeburgische Philharmonie.
In the field of contemporary music, he has worked with the Ensemble Ilynx (Berlin) on numerous occasions, participating in the Kontakte Festival, the Crescendo Festival and the Zoom+Focus Concert, premiering various pieces.
In addition to orchestral conducting, he composed the score as well as conducted an original musical titled Clown, achieving great critical acclaim and success. He has also conducted musicals such as Evita by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
As an instrumentalist, he has achieved international recognition as a finalist at the International Mandolin Competition Yasuo Kuwahara in Hammelburg ,Germany, as well as winning the second prize at the 1st International Solo Mandolin Competition Luxembourg. He has performed and toured with various chamber groups and orchestras throughout Spain as well as in the USA, France, Germany, Russia, Greece, Argentina, Luxemburg, Austria, Italy, Colombia or Ecuador. He has regularly performed with the Spanish National Orchestra, RTVE Symphony Orchestra, Community of Madrid Orchestra, Spanish Philharmonie Orchestra and the Spanish National Ballet.
As an educator, Fernando has worked as a mandolin and chamber music teacher, as well as a conductor of the Youth Orchestra at the Alcázar de San Juan-Campo de Criptana Conservatory in Spain.
